Restoration of degraded and soil is an important goal in sustainable development. In order to do that, several approaches are developed, including using biofertilizers, which are ecofriendly and suitable for sustainable agriculture and restoration. In this respect, it is crucial to consider the interaction of soil biota. Each Earthworms and microbiota are known to enhance soil physicochemical and biological properties. Current study was conducted in order to explore the effects of earthworm, Eisenia fetida and cyanobacteria, Anabeana sphaerica on soil physical and biochemical properties. Here, sample poor soils were selected and was arranged into four treatments, each with three replicates. The treatments are kept for 90 days in 25°C with 16/8 light-dark regime under 300 lux. Following variables were assessed in each treatment: phosphorous, organic carbon, nitrogen, carbon of biomass, pH, electrical conductivity, urease, alkaline phosphatase, basal respiration, stimulated respiration, Azotobacter and Nitrobacter. Results were analyzed using SPSS in order to demonstrate the significant differences compared to control groups, and to reveal the significant of single and combined effects of earthworms and cyanobacteria. The results demonstrated positive indication towards improving soil physico-chemical and microbial properties using earthworm and cyanobacteria, especially accompanying with cow manure. The results proved more bacterial activity, nitrogen, and carbon content with cow manure. This rise in almost all the determined factors was seen. Except microbial activity, other variables increased in deeper layers of soil. In conclusion, these findings can help us manage degraded soils and improve the understanding of interaction across soil biota on its properties. This can reverse desertification, and promote soil’s health with the aid of microorganisms and earthworms.
